How will we help our planet??

In Term 3 we learned about Conservation and Sustainability. Here is one thing that we are going to do to help save our world for future generations.

How have we been going??

PET POWER

On Friday the 29th of October it was pet day and there were lots of animals. I brought 3 of my guinea pigs.1 is the mother called Tweety and 2 very cute babies called Chew,chew and Cutie. I've had Tweety for 2 and a half months. I've also had Chew,chew and Cutie for 1 month.

On the 28/10/2010 rm 5/6 were lucky to have a cyclist from team motutapu called james canny visit us.

he came and talked to us about the tour of southland . he will be riding with a bronze medalist called aaron gate and 4 other people. Sadly james canny crashed before the start and got injured but there was still a team. by leah / Imogen and luke

FLIPPERBALL

On friday 29 October2010 the moray eels played we lost 5/9. We had a great game I hope we win soon if we do it will be great! BY DILLON COOPER.

Lachlans Library

Reading is my favourite project at school because I'm good at it. My favourite series is called warriors I like it because it is well written and it's fiction which is my favourite type of book. It's about a cat called Rusty. He is a domestic cat and he gets mixed with some wild cats. This book is written by Erin hunter and can be in our school library.

Jump rope 4 heart

For Jump 4 heart we had to get some sponsors as many as we can to raise money for the school. Now the fun part we did fun activities like long ropes, relay skipping, chalk graffiti under the shelter and single skipping plus we raised $493

The Bad Snow Storm

On the 18th-19th there was a snowstorm. Dad and me went to town and we saw an igloo. So when we got home we got our snow clothes then went outside and made an igloo. Then went to bed the next day it was even worse and the snow wasn’t gone. So we went outside, and then Mum and Dad came outside and Jordan and I bombed them with snowballs.

Swimming Relays

On Saturday the 11th of September Daniel Strang , Nicholas Menlove , William Cocker and Tiegan Willson went to Splash Palace for the Collegate School re-lays. We did very well. We got second in the medley and third in the freestyle but in the finals we got disqualified. We had a great time .

Conservation Week 2010

This week is Conservation Week.
Room 6 will be completing various tasks to help conserve our fantastic country and world.

Room 6 has been learning to write persuasively about different topics this term.
We learned about layout, paragraphing, emotive language and how to state our opinions.
Our latest effort is to convince people that we need to save water before this precious resource runs out.

Holiday time!

Wow- I cannot believe that it is nearly the end of the term already!

Tally-ho

This is a game that Miss Murcott taught us. We like it because it is fun to play with the class.
1. You need 40 cones in a rectangle and two balls.
2. Each team has a jail and a safe house. The jails are on the opposite corners to your own teams space. The safe houses are on the side in the middle of the field.
3. The idea of the game is to capture all the people in the jail and get the other teams ball.
4. To put people in jail you have to grab them and drag them to the jail. If you don't take them to the jail they are fee after counting 1 mississippi, 2 mississippi, 3 mississippi.
5. People can be rescued from the jail by a team member coming and calling 'Tally-ho'. It is important to guard the jail to stop this happening.
6. To win your team needs to have both balls in your part of the field.

Have a go and play it. You will need a big space and it helps to have a captain.

Room 6 at Enrich

In term 1 we went to Enrich for the day to work on Comic Life.

It was a fantastic day and we learned heaps.: how to take photos using different angles and styles, how to import photos, how to create comics using Comic Life.
