Hamish's Rarotongan hoilday

In February my family and I went on holiday to Rarotonga. We were there for 8 days. It was a wonderful place to visit. I really liked the way they presented things and had things laid out. I also liked the swimming and kayaking.
Here are some of the cultural differences I noticed while there:

  • In Rarotonga you don’t wear seat belts and you ride around on the back of vehicles.
  •  No spouting on roofs.
  •  Clothes: floral, men have colorful flowery shirts, women sarongs; wear flowers in their hair and flowery shirts.
  •  Footwear: bare feet or jandals.
  •   Music: drums & ukulele
  • Traditional feast: Umu (NZ hangi)
  • Transport: scooters, bus that travel all day.
  •  Dance outfits: women grass like skirts, feathery bits on hips, coconut shells as a bra, and flowers in hair.  Men a piece of material that covers front and back of bottom. Grass like skirts on their calf muscles.

My Special Clock

My Grandfather Clock Guess what?! I made this grandfather clock. It took me about half an hour and I made it from Kanex. It is about a foot tall and it has a tool that you wind it up with and that makes it go tick tock. You can also open a door. If you want to know where you get Kanex from, you can get it from America. Kanex is fun to use and you can make lots of different things with it. Sean ☺
